There are three principal tenets in Freemasonry; Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth.

I have an opinion about the three, but before sharing any thoughts on the topic, I need to ask the following question.

If you HAD to pick…which is the most important?  No squirming on this one…you MUST pick the one that is more important than the other two.

  1. In my opinion, without Truth, none of the others are possible.

  2. If you are walking the middle path shouldn’t the goal be equilibrium/balance? That none of them take precedent but are all worked on. As a Mason you are the 3rd pillar, the center of a circle.

  3. Without love, nothing else is possible, for it is the ultimate truth.

  4. In my humble opinion, the greatest of these virtues is Brotherly Love. For this virtue breathes life into the others. How can one be truthful, and not love his fellow man, or what is it that births the compassion for our brother when we see his need for relief? Much as the Sacred Scripture tells us of Hope, Faith and Charity (love)…the greatest of these is Charity (love). Love, and not Red Bull, gives us the wings to soar to the heights of this, our grand fraternity.

  5. You can have truth with no Brotherly Love; need I say more?
